Born in 1968, Holger studied law in Germany and the U.S.A. He is a DAAD alumni, qualified to practice law in Germany and gained his Ph.D. for a thesis on Chinese Insurance Law from the University of Augsburg, Germany, in 2002.
Following a first stay in Shanghai in 1996/97, Holger livedin Beijing from 1999 until 2012. Apart from his consulting work at Hanisch & Sandner, he is managing our GERNWEIT brand, under which we are developing and producing environmentally friendly vehicles and renewable fuels.
Holger’s pervious work experiences include employment as research assistant for business law at the RWTH University in Aachen, Germany, vice director of the GTZ legal reform project in Beijing, head of the department for law and business of the German Chamber of Commerce in Beijing, director and CFO for the China activities of Bucyrus International Inc. and manager in the business development department of Caterpillar Global Mining.
Holger has published numerous articles and frequently holds presentations on Chinese law. The focus of his advisory work is foreign direct investment and compliance management in China as well as the establishment of Chinese invested companies overseas. Holger’s native language is German; he is fluent in English and Chinese.
